Docteur ès Lettres and instructor at the University of Geneva, Matthieu Bernhardt is a specialist of the geographic literature of the Renaissance. In particular, his interest deals with intercultural encounters in the age of the Great Discoveries, especially the first Jesuit missions in the Far East.
