Shakespeare in Cologny

Lecture available online. “Shakespeare in Cologny”: a presentation given by Lukas Erne and Devani Singh, the 18 October 2016 at the Martin Bodmer Foundation.

While the world marks the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, this presentation, of which one part will be given in French and the other in English, poses the question of the importance of the master of the English language in two different ways. Why does Shakespeare, four hundred years after the fact, remain one of the most-studied authors, the most staged, the most important in the world? And what special importance does Shakespeare hold for the Martin Bodmer Foundation?
